This week Lil Fox wanted to share some of the fun new names for foods in the UK that we haven’t used back in the United States. Our family LOVES food, so this has been a pretty fun exercise to learn how to say new terms. Lots of laughing takes place – we never knew eggplant and zucchini could result in so many laughs.

Have some fun with us! We made a game for you. Can you guess the UK name for the pictured food? You can find the answer by hovering over the picture.

Don’t forget, if you ever have any questions you can ask Lil Fox and Hedgehog here.

Lil Fox & Hedgehogs Favorite

These are just some of the different names of foods in the UK and we keep learning every day, so we don’t have a hands-down all-time favorite. Lil Fox and Hedgehog say that their favorite food out of the options listed below is double cream. They like to eat it for dessert garnished with some fruit. The double cream comes in a plastic, circular container instead of a carton like in the US. Have you seen those little creamers on restaurant tables? Think of something similar, except bigger!

Parental foodie notes

Double cream has a higher fat content (about 48% fat content) than the US heavy whipping cream (~36-40% fat content). Therefore, it results in a thick and decadent cream experience. Since there isn’t a direct equivalent, double cream is the closest comparison. We wondered about the difference after the first few times we looked for something called heavy cream in the grocery stores and couldn’t find it.
